Nothing is harder than to change ourselves. I believe we all make mistakes, on daily basis. The difference is how many times of regret we use to learn more.
Spiritism tells us about our duties and what we can possibly get after leaving our flesh bodies, but all of this means nothing if we don’t use this little portion of time (about 7 decades) to bring and add knowledge and to take the right path we all know what it is. It is not the religion itself, is the actions we are willing to take to improve our life and our souls.
“Spiritism respects all religions and doctrines; values all efforts towards the practice of goodness; works towards peace and fellowship between all nations and all peoples, regardless of race, colour, nationality, creed, cultural or social standing. It also recognizes that “the truly good person is one who complies with the laws of justice, love, and charity in their highest degree of purity.” (Kardec)

Religion is something that is always developing and changing. We can put all the faith we want in a 2000 year-old book named Bible, but we also have to read new material and open our minds to new knowledge. How can something that pledges for charity and the good of mankind be Devil´s work?
I don’t mind who created or where any traditions comes from, I only care on what it can add on our knowledge and daily action. No religion is bad, what is truly evil is the human use of other’s beliefs, as we are tired to see. Catholic Church fought unccountable wars in the holy name of God, a God which only seeked for vengeance and blood, which seeks for a holy land, even bathed in blood. That’s terrible, and now we have the knowledge to understand that God is not a political entity which needs the human help. It is obviously the contrary. We need God’s help for everything, but he give us the free will to choose whatever path we want.
It is like a soft glove that will help us to stop falling whenever we need, but we need also to deserve. Idiot is the one who may think that by doing nothing bad he will find heaven. This is only our minimal obligation. From the moment we understand that “WITHOUT CHARITY THERE IS NO SALVATION” we are commiting to live in moral high standards and to practice it daily. It is not about giving money to poor people, it is about living with other different human beings and not judging everybody’s else options.
Perfection is a target so, so, so far away, and Jesus is so distant from our moral reach, that we have to take a step by step improvement on our actions. Every time we consciously don’t do something because it would be consider bad for our moral standards, we are one step further on the long path to a better world. Heaven is for the prouds, evolution is for the strongs! Spiritism can handle the burden, and it is our duty to make the charge lighter for everyone.
